Her mind is a diverse place, that experiences beautiful seascapes on one hand, and nightmarish, dark thoughts on the other hand. Kay explores the lands of Berlin as she tries to find out the cause of her monstrosity and come to terms with the trauma and abuse she has experienced. Gameplay
Mostly, the game is about finding glowing orbs so that players can uncover Kay’s memories. Sea of Solitude can roughly be considered to be an adventure video game, played in the third person narrative. Here, Kay can roam about, run, jump, walk. For navigating from one place to another, she has a wooden boat. She can sail the sprawling ocean in her small wooden boat.
The gameplay comprises environmental puzzle-solving, platforming, and stealth. Kay has the power to launch a flare in the sky. That can help her travel to wherever she wants. The flare is very much like a sword, raised towards the sky, that creates a ray of light in the Shadow of the Colossus.

What is most striking is how her past experiences become the world around the players. Scenes portrayed in the game aren’t subtle throughout. Sometimes there are traumatic scenes that evoke emotions in us and are hence very impactful. For instance, in one such scene, Kay feels extremely alone and hopeless and players have to fumble in the dark to find out what should they do next.
In another scene, Kay suddenly recalls her parents’ ugly fights and it’s portrayed on screen as two monstrous figures battling the dark. Even Kay sometimes is portrayed in a monstrous form, to let the players know what she feels about herself. The monster designs have been deftly crafted and implemented, creating a full 3D effect on the screen.
