What is Sekiro Shadows Die Twice about?
Sekiro is set in a fantastical re-imagined 16th century of the Sengoku Japanese period. In the game, a warlord named Isshin Ashina opted for a coup to gain control of a piece of Ashina’s land. At the same time, a shinobi known as Owl adopts an orphan and names him, Wolf. Owl then trains his protege in the ways of the shinobi. Two decades pass and Ashina is now on the verge of collapse due to Isshin being ill and the ministry trying to unify Japan closing in.
Desperate to provide relief to his clan, Genichiro, the adoptive grandson of Isshin tries to find out the ‘Divine Heir’ to create an immortal army using the ‘Dragon Heritage’ power in the heir’s blood. Wolf, a Shinobi and the personal bodyguard of the Divine Heir known as Kuro fights Genichiro but loses the entire fight as well as his left hand.
But Wolf survives since he gets Kuro’s blood. He is then brought by a famed sculptor to a temple to recover. After he recovers, he goes on a journey to find Kuro. But that is not the end of the game. There are a lot more trials and tribulations regarding Ashina, the mortal and immortal realm, as well as the dragon heritage powers themselves. To know the entire story and feel its emotional depth, you need to take the journey with the characters.

Here Sekiro saves Kuro but dies in the process.
The last ending is called Dragon’s Homecoming and it is achieved by assisting the important Divine Child. Kuro dies in this ending, but his spirit gets to live inside of the child.
- Past gameplays
You will be able to play segments that tell the story of what happened 3 years before the central plot. You will learn about new characters like Lady butterfly and why Owl stabbed Wolf in the back. Here you will understand why Sekiro got the dragon’s heritage.
- Revival
Using this feature you will be able to revive yourself once while fighting with strong enemies. This will give you a chance to win. Not to mention that the gameplay will be more dynamic due to this. Note that if you get killed off by low-level enemies, then you can revive yourself multiple times. However, the number of times you can bring yourself back to life depends on the number of revive tokens you have.
- Posture bar
This bar will fill up if you suffer damage or don’t block an incoming attack. If your posture bar gets filled up, then you can get killed with just one hit. Note that not just you, but your enemies will have it too. This will help you fight better.
