The game is a sequel to The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II game and is part of The Legend of Heroes gaming franchise. In here you will be playing as Rean Schwarzer, an experienced military professor, and his students.

The game begins after the big ‘Northern War’ that ended with North Ambria getting annexed in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II. In the current third game, one-and-a-half years have passed. The main job in the game is to explore various topics. So here you will be dealing with the origins of the mysterious Rean.
